Kyle Walker ‘nearly kills’ Man City pal Bernardo Silva with bullet throw-in vs Chelsea

Fans joked that Manchester City defender Kyle Walker nearly killed team-mate Bernardo Silva with a bullet throw-in against Chelsea.

City secured three crucial points in their Premier League title pursuit at Stamford Bridge on Thursday. Super-sub Jack Grealish set up Riyad Mahrez for the winner on the hour mark in an otherwise dismal display.

And one moment in particular encapsulated the unimpressive showing by both teams in the first-half.

Pep Guardiola’s side won a throw in Chelsea’s half – which was taken by England international Walker. After initially looking to send it forward, the right-back changed his mind and opted to go backwards.

But Walker absolutely cannoned his throw in the direction of teammate Silva’s face – which was about five yards away. Fortunately for the diminutive midfielder, he was able to avoid any damage by instantly ducking out of the way of Walker’s missile strike.

And eagle-eyed fans back home were left in stitches at Walker’s near-assassination attempt, with one Twitter user tweeting: “Bruhhh Kyle Walker almost killed Bernardo Silva with that throw.”

Another asked: “Why did Walker throw the ball so violently?” along with a laughing face emoji.

A third tweeted: “This game is an absolute abomination. Literally the only entertainment has been Walker trying to smack Silva in the face with a throw-in.”

And another added: “Lol Walker was gonna kill Bernardo with that throw in. Luckily he dodged it.”

City take on Chelsea again on Sunday as the two giants face off once more in the third round of the FA Cup.
